Olympic Gold Medalist, Kaitlyn Lawes, was riding shotgun as David Richert crossed the line to win Round 3 of the Slingshot Racing Cup in stunning fashion at Gimli Motorsport Park yesterday. In 2014, Kaitlyn Lawes was standing on the top step of the Olympic podium after winning a gold medal for Canada in curling with Team Jennifer Jones. Tomorrow, Lawes will tackle a new challenge as she joins participants competing in the Slingshot Racing Cup. The Slingshot Racing Cup is the world's first ever championship featuring Polaris' unique 3-wheeled roadster called the Slingshot and it is sponsored by S.A.R. Sport and Recreation in Steinbach and Richert Racing. Winnipeg Jets Enjoy Thrill of Speed

The sweet sound of a Porsche 911 roaring around the curves was briefly interrupted by the thumping sound of rotor blades beating against the cool morning air as a helicopter carrying special passengers descended from the clouds above Gimli Motorsport Park. Exiting the helicopter like rock stars were Winnipeg Jets Mark Scheifele, Josh Morrissey, Kyle Connor and Jack Roslovic. Hugely Successful First Event for Slingshot Racing Cup

Under brilliantly sunny and clear blue skies the first event of the Slingshot Racing Cup kicked off at Gimli Motorsport Park. With 8 Slingshots entered, the Formula 1 style standing race start had spectators on their feet. The wheel to wheel action continued throughout Race 1 as the top four Slingshots stunningly crossed the finish line just 1.8 seconds apart.
